How to put WordPress in maintenance mode for website updates can be rather daunting, to say the least, when you want to make a major change to your website or blog.

By major change, I’m referring to a theme change for example; something that could have some unknown consequences.

Or, you could be a little nervous about updating your site with the latest version of WordPress for example.

Update: And I should mention that, as an extra safeguard, I even like to try major changes first on a local server, having installed WordPress on XAMPP.

It can be very, very frustrating if you have just published a fantastic article to your website/blog only to find that no-one even knows it exists.

This is even worse if you have spent hours and hours doing your keyword research, writing your epic piece of content, proofreading it and then publishing it to the world. You know it is good; you know others can benefit from it, but it is now lost in the maze of great content on the web.

Pictures in TweetsWe are all quite familiar with the 140 character Twitter text messages that we call tweets. But not everybody is aware of the rapidly growing visual nature of Twitter.

We have been seeing,for a while, the use of media links in tweets. But, now it is becoming even easier and more effective to include images, whenever they are relevant. 

In the past, you needed to click and expand the tweet to be able to view its media addition.  However, Twitter has now introduced an in-line feature that allows you to view photos and/or media without having to click on a link to expand the tweet.
