Updating older posts

With the benefit of hindsight, and new ideas, I often find that posts that I have written in the past, really should be updated.  Many of my archived posts continue to offer real value to my audience but there is no disputing that some of the content could do with revamping or updating.  If the content can be refreshed, then the entire article can continue to be relevant and to reflect current practices.

In fact, after using Long Tail Pro extensively to find low competition keywords, I know that many of my archived posts could do with title updates to include keywords that are much more competitive than those originally published with the post.

EasyAzon 4 Plugin: Upgrade to Easy Azon 4 & EasyAzon Pro

EasyAzon V4 PluginEarlier this year, owners of Chris Guthrie’s EasyAzon plugin needed to make a decision:  Upgrade to the newest version (EasyAzon 4) or stay with EasyAzon 3.

By the way if you don’t already own this plugin, then you can see why I now find it indispensable here for any site promoting Amazon products.

This is a tool I would not be without.

In other words, if you are an Amazon Associate, then this plugin can save you HEAPS of time!! For example, there is no need to mess with code of do any copying and pasting of code. There’s no need to leave your site, it is all done from your editing screen.

I must say that I hesitated in upgrading from version 3 to version 4 at first because 1 of my sites in particular is very heavily dependent on the tool. I didn’t want to run the risk of formats being different for my Amazon links or the risk of any broken links.  But this initial hesitation was not necessary at all!!

Once I decided to upgrade, I was firstly relieved by how easy it was to transition to the latest version and secondly impressed by the added functionality in EasyAzon V4. [Read more…]

Amazon Affiliate Items with No Orders: Currently Unavailable

Promoting Products Currently UnavailableRegardless of whether you manage just one or several Amazon affiliate sites, it can prove tricky when it comes to keeping track of products that have dropped out of production for some reason or are simply no longer on offer.

You have probably already noticed, to your horror, that a product you have been promoting is no longer available. That is, it is now listed on the Amazon site as “Currently Unavailable“.

Now, obviously if you are promoting just a few Amazon products then you can easily manually check from time to time to make sure that each item is still being offered for sale.

An Amazon Plugin Making Life Easier for Amazon Affiliates

EasyAzon PluginUpdate: EasyAzon has now been updated to version 4. The review below was written about version 3.  I continue to use it and find EasyAzon 4 indispensable in my arsenal of affiliate marketing tools.

I simply love this tool. 

Without it, I would find inserting Amazon links very tedious. And I must say that the enhancements in the latest version of the tool are fantastic.

As noted below, links to this product are my own affiliate links but even if I were not an affiliate, I would recommend this tool without hesitation. It is so easy to set up and so easy to use from within your WordPress editor screen.

Do People Make Money with Amazon?

If you haven’t heard the name Chris Guthrie before, then let me introduce him to you. This is one person who has definitely made a name for himself because of how successful he has been as an Amazon associate.

The phrase “Amazon associates” refers to the affiliate program that Amazon runs. By signing up for an Amazon Affiliate account, you are eligible to promote products that are sold on Amazon and thus receive a commission, provided you abide by Amazon’s terms and requirements such as the correct disclaimer on your website.

If you have heard of this affiliate program, then you would have come across a lot of authors who dismiss the idea out of hand because of the Amazon affiliate commission which, in many affiliate’s view, is way too low to bother with.
